Jeff Guppy - Principal and Musical Director

Jeff has been performing professionally as a Musician, Composer, Arranger and Teacher for … well … a very long time. For an even longer time, his heart has been in Musical Theatre – he was delighted to be asked to “steer the ship” when Pat Batho-Davies stood down.

Has directed many West End shows but latterly was MD for Phantom of the Opera star Peter Karrie, all over the world.

His passion for all things theatrical is only equalled by his desire to pass on his immense knowledge to the students of JGSMT.

Ben Joseph - Drama teacher

Ben was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship to study Musical Theatre at the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts. He is now studying for his Masters in Musical Theatre at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Whilst studying, Ben played ‘Melchior’ in Spring Awakening, ‘Daddy’ in Sweet Charity, ‘Jesus’ in Godspell, ‘Roger’ in A New Brain and ‘Leopard’ in Just So. Ben is lucky enough to have performed in professional venues all across the UK, including; Cardiff’s New Theatre, St David’s Hall, Her Majesty’s Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall.

Ben also took part in many LAMDA examinations when he was younger, receiving the highest score that the marking centre and its examiner had ever given. As well as Musical Theatre work, Ben is experienced in plays, radio, television work and modelling. Ben says that he owes so much of his success to the theatre schools that he attended when he was younger, and can’t wait to give something back and be part of inspiring the students to pursue their dreams
